A wizard came to tea today... a WIZARD! With him came thirteen of the hungriest, noisiest dwarves... my plates, my lovely plates...

According to those much more dedicated to the cause than I, the trip from Bag End in the Shire to Erebor, the Lonely Mountain, was 967 miles. I'd done 499 miles to Pennsic a year ago and read "A Hobbit's Guide to Walking" by NerdFitness (a great site, go check it out).

How I'm tracking Mileage: (to be reformed)
As with my Pennsic Pilgrimage I plan on updating this page directly as a sort of diary of the trek. I hope to do most of it in character, but there will be some Muggle clarifications here and there. Since it's all really about physical training while being a complete nerd, I'll be using mileage from cycling, elliptical, etc, as well. My spinning class does not have odometer's on the bikes, but the average for an hour long class seems to be about 20 miles. I'm giving myself 10 miles for each hour long yoga/pilates class (and if you think I'm being too generous, know that I can hardly walk the next day). Most mileage will come from my pedometer. I'm also considering a percentage of my Fitocracy points as mileage as well. Say, if:P>100, 0.010*P=miles. This means 370 points for my NF Circuit equals 3.7 miles closer to the Lonely Mountain.

Thorin's Map was scanned from the book by this nice man here.
