Don't you hate when you sit down at an empty table to quietly study.. and someone comes and sits down next to you. Quiet at first, but then a /friend/ of theirs shows up. Soon they're gabbing and laughing, comPLETELY oblivious that YOU, and your 2 textbooks, highlights, notebook, and notecards are trying to study. Nah.. can't be bothering you at all.

Neat: Microbiology, p11. "When the inhabitants of an entire village became ill, people often blamed the disease on demons appearing as foul odors from sewage or on poisonous vaops from swamps. Most people - found it !!inconceivable that 'invisible' microbes could travel through the air to infect plants and animals or remain on clothing and bedding to be transmitted from one to another."
--These SAME people never questioned the God or Demon caused illnesses though? Tiny germs, impossible. Demons or God punishing you by killing your whole family? TOTALLY possible. O_o

*The Microbiology book lists the Caduceus as "the symbol of the medical profession".. which it is NOW, but considering the histories I just read... it is by mistake. Though... I do like the wings :P

So... StarTrek.Com has released a Starfleet Academy Diploma.  I wanted to see if the design was supported by canon (because I'm a huge fact-check nerd) and in my quest collected what I think to be all the diploma designs officially used on the show. I'm still looking though, so if you find one I don't have here, please leave a comment! Confirmed authentic : Voyager epi "Non Sequitur". It appears to be the first time a diploma had been shown, if rabid Trekkers diligently duplicating it is any indication. De Groote Museum

 De Groote Museum (The Great Museum) is centered around the concept that everything is connected . It's part of the Artis Royal Zoo complex (like Micropia) but has a separate entrance and fee (included in the Museum Card).  The museum was closed for 75 years (not a typo!) and reopened in 2022. It used to be the  'Main Building' or 'Zoological Museum' for Artis. You can read more about it's scientific use at their website ! ARTIS honorary member and professor of Anatomy Willem Vrolik (1801-1863) gave lectures on the autopsies he performed on animals that had died in the zoo. He published the very first scientific description of various animal species. After the autopsy, the animals were prepared and ended up in the museum.
