Turtle Back Zoo, NJ
We had a wonderful time at Turtle Back Zoo!
(And a VERY socially distanced date with a friend. So distanced, I couldn't find them #directionallychallenged.)
I was a bit nervous, even with masks, but most everyone was doing what they should have. Only, they didn't distance in lines, so we stayed out of them, except to ride the train. Hobbit loves trains so we had to. You can hear it tooting across the whole zoo and each time it did he said "I hear it! Let's go!" It takes you on a short loop through the woods on the side of the zoo. You can't see any animals but it's fun anyway. It's a tiny little steam train. One of those made specifically for pretend train rides. He liked it.
We got to see the bird area (Eagle and hawks), a mountain lion and a jaguar, some sneaky black bears (just their heads), and some BOLD wolves. Seriously, they came up to the glass like they wanted to smell the kids, or eat them.
We stood in the non-socially distanced line to get on the Turtle Back Express.

We saw gophers and turtles, the reptile house too. They had a toucan! Hobbit loved the green python and the tortoise. He followed in around its tank for a minute and they seemed to stare at each other for a moment.
Sup.

Toot toot!
See those smiling eyes? Totally worth it.
It was fun. It was nice to do something that felt normal. And the boys loved it so definitely a win!
