Camp Owls 2015 River Runners

I had the best time as a first year student staff for FAU Camp Owls 2015! Our group, River Runners, exceeded their OWN expectations every day, and I'm so proud to have seen them succeed!

Incoming freshman participated in Teambuilding and the Challenge Course before heading off to Juniper Springs Recreation Area. There, they learn to put together camp, cook simple healthful meals, and work together. They are challenged to navigate the Juniper Springs Creek (aka Divorce Canoeing) and invited to enjoy the springs!

Team River Runners successfully organized their whole team (and a facilitator) onto the balance board without speaking, then organized them to the far edges, THEN, gave us this wonderful rendition of a classic!


Everyone did such a great job on the Challenge Course. I need to make a collage of them!

So... StarTrek.Com has released a Starfleet Academy Diploma.  I wanted to see if the design was supported by canon (because I'm a huge fact-check nerd) and in my quest collected what I think to be all the diploma designs officially used on the show. De Groote Museum

 De Groote Museum (The Great Museum) is centered around the concept that everything is connected . It's part of the Artis Royal Zoo complex (like Micropia) but has a separate entrance and fee (included in the Museum Card).  The museum was closed for 75 years (not a typo!) and reopened in 2022. It used to be the  'Main Building' or 'Zoological Museum' for Artis. You can read more about it's scientific use at their website ! ARTIS honorary member and professor of Anatomy Willem Vrolik (1801-1863) gave lectures on the autopsies he performed on animals that had died in the zoo. He published the very first scientific description of various animal species. After the autopsy, the animals were prepared and ended up in the museum. At that time, ARTIS mainly wanted to collect and understand nature, in order to promote knowledge in an accessible way. The main hall has a nice area for rest (and maybe yoga). Everything needs rest!
