April

4/23
My 40th birthday went by quietly... as quietly as it can with two kids. We spent our morning in the woods and ordered dinner in to avoid riding in the rain.
4/25
Had one of Hobbit's friends over for the day. We tried to do everything! Playground, play clay, rode scooters, blew bubbles, and even erupted a paper maché volcano. It was a good day.

4/26 Botanical Garden
Is there a better way to review the Ecology section than an ecological scavenger hunt in a Botanical Garden? I don't think so. (Got a sister section to come too!) We took them to the Botanische Tuin Zuidas, which is run by the Vrije Universität and only a block from our school!

4/26, 27 Konigsdag (King's (birth)Day)
Netherlands celebrates the king's birthday by putting on orange gear (an homage to his heritage in the House of Orange) and either heading to a block party or a town-wide garage sale.

We started the night before at a King's Night party at the mall. They had done food trucks, a bounce house, and music. I like the Indian music and the drumline. Later, there was a laserlight show and kids dance party. The boys were up too late but it was a lot of fun.

Parties are better with friends... and cotton candy.

Slagwerkgroep Bovenkerk,

"Lazers"

We wandered the Amstelveen market (garage sale lane) for activities, secondhand Legos, and ice cream!

We took a break from the noise in the War Memorial park "Brothers Park". We saw black swans and a lovely memorial to Liberation Day.

I Read:

Smolder, Anita Blake #29 by Laurel K. Hamilton. ⚰️⚰️/5

I'm honestly confused. I finished the book and feel like somehow the last chapter is missing. I know AB books have little to no epilogue but, did we not fight the Boss? We had a huge strategy session over how to. Then we decided the best offense is a good defense. But then we went to bed, and woke up, and that was is. Am I missing a chapter? I don't know is this constitutes Spoilers, bc, there's no ending to spoil.

The narrator, Kimberly Alexis, is excellent as always, and I felt like the character and story was leaning back in in the right direction (away from the Harlequin Romance drama she's turned the series into). Still so much whiny bickering though.

So, 3 for the story progression, and -1 because it has no ending. 2 stars total.
