On a school trip with the DP1 (junior) students I traveled to Friesland for a three days! We stayed at a Sailing School, Zeilschool de Veenhoep, where we canoe, sail, and built rafts! We took a day in the city of Leeuwarden, and visited the museum. The sailing school has barracks style rooms (with little room for chargers) but the living room and other seating areas are lovely! Natural wood beams, large windows with views of the water, and very friendly family as staff. On the first day we settled in and I ran off with the group doing canoes! At first there were not enough canoes, but a couple boys came back very quickly and I hopped in. It was only a short route but enough for kids who've never done it before. I missed canoeing; I think I haven't done it in six years! We all bussed to the other sailing school site to have a joint dinner (the kids aren't keen on being split from some of their friends). They have a lovely outdoor area at Zeilschool Pean Friesland! And afte...
May 14, 2021. Thomas the Tank Engine came to the B&O Railroad Museum in Baltimore, MD. At just 2.5 hrs away, I booked tickets. We decided to make it a weekend in Baltimore. We booked rooms, stayed the night before, and the very first thing you get to see is Thomas! A "real, with a face" Thomas. Not to be confused with a "real Thomas" aka LB&SCR E2 class Engine. (Spoilers at the very end.) p ⚠️⚠️ The rest may contain information that is unsuitable for young Thomas fans. Akin to Santa, if you catch my drift. ⚠️⚠️ The Engine at this Day Out with Thomas may be more of a caboose than an engine. The face moves and he toots, which is cool, but when he took us out on our ride, the train was actually pulled by a B&O diesel. At happened to catch it pulling out with another excursion. There is a Thomas, in Japan, that appears to be a full size working engine (if not Thomas's actual model)....
So... StarTrek.Com has released a Starfleet Academy Diploma. I wanted to see if the design was supported by canon (because I'm a huge fact-check nerd) and in my quest collected what I think to be all the diploma designs officially used on the show. I'm still looking though, so if you find one I don't have here, please leave a comment! Confirmed authentic : Voyager epi "Non Sequitur". It appears to be the first time a diploma had been shown, if rabid Trekkers diligently duplicating it is any indication. If you register at the LCARSc site, you can download a free template to make your own! (ref: http://www.lcarsc.com/entry.php/34-Freebie-Friday-Starfleet-Diploma ) Confirmed authentic: Enterprise : "Storm Front, Part II" Earlier in storyline, later in established canon. Found via http://en.memory-alpha.org/wiki/Starfleet_Academy_majors Official StarTrek.Com diploma (Released 2012): I can't find any epi screenshot t...
